The construction and development of Industry Center has experienced the following four stages:

(1) Construct basic experiment and practice bases, set up metalworking practice and experiment courses (1961-1996)

In 1961, Zhenjiang Agricultural Machinery College, the predecessor of the University, established the mechanical laboratory, tolerance laboratory, agricultural machinery laboratory and affiliated practice factory in the early stage of its establishment, and then successively established cutting laboratory, hydraulic laboratory, mold laboratory, measurement and control laboratory, electrical foundation laboratory and electrical and electronic practice place. According to the teaching mode of the former Soviet Union, the course of Metalworking Practice was set up, and the combination of theory and practice was emphasized. The practice teaching system of traditional engineering talents training has been formed, which has laid a solid foundation for the construction and development of engineering training series courses.

In 1992, our university ranked second in the undergraduate course evaluation of Engineering Mmaterials and Machinery Manufacturing Foundation organized by Jiangsu Province; in 1994, it was awarded the first place in the evaluation of metalworking practice in Jiangsu engineering colleges.

(2) Integrate teaching resources and improve the connotation of engineering training courses (1996-1999)

In November 1996, the school implemented the reform of teaching laboratory system, changing the traditional mode of setting up laboratories according to courses and specialties. The mechanical engineering teaching experimental center was established by combining the mechanical laboratory, tolerance laboratory, cutting laboratory, agricultural machinery laboratory, hydraulic laboratory, mold laboratory and measurement and control laboratory, which realized the optimization and sharing of resources, and promoted the reform of experimental teaching and the display of comprehensive advantages.

Since 1998, the construction of basic engineering training base has been started in an all-round way, and a basic engineering training base with a construction area of 10500 square meters has been built. In metalworking practice, new materials, new technology and knowledge have been introduced, and a practical teaching LAN with numerical control technology and accounting as the core has been constructed, information flow, value flow and material flow have been integrated into the teaching content of metalworking practice, which has completed the transformation from traditional metalworking practice to interdisciplinary and modern manufacturing technology. The connotation of basic engineering training has been expanded and improved.

During this period, the university took the lead in carrying out the "Four-in-one" comprehensive teaching reform practice in Colleges and Universities Affiliated to the Ministry of machinery, which integrates curriculum construction, specialty construction, discipline construction and laboratory construction, and the idea of "Big Engineering Education" is gradually formed in the practice, that is, taking the real engineering practice environment as the background, integrating machinery, electronics, information, control, detection, environment and management into one, comprehensively cultivating students' engineering consciousness, engineering ability and engineering innovative thinking.

In 1999, it passed the evaluation of the first batch of university basic course teaching laboratory organized by Jiangsu Province with excellent results, and was rated as the provincial teaching experimental center in December of the same year.

(3) Relying on the joint construction project to establish a national experimental teaching demonstration center (1999-2007)

From 1999 to 2003, with the support of the key investment of the University and the special funds jointly built by the Ministry and province, the center, guided by the idea of "Big Engineering Education", aimed at building a first-class training base for students' innovative quality, focused on cultivating students' engineering practice ability, comprehensive analysis and design ability, scientific research ability and innovative spirit. Combining laboratory construction with specialty construction, curriculum construction and discipline construction organically, four training platforms of Engineering cognition, basic engineering training, modern engineering training, comprehensive and innovative training, and 11 demonstration teaching windows of numerical control technology and reverse engineering are constructed, which integrates experiment, practice, engineering training and social service, and integrates and improves them step by step. The construction of a multi-level and modular practical teaching system to meet the needs of diversified personnel training, which embodies the combination of mass education and personalized training, the combination of theoretical teaching and practical teaching, the combination of in class practice and extracurricular scientific and technological activities, the combination of practice content with engineering background and scientific research projects. Through training of implementation ability (basic ability, comprehensive ability, scientific research and engineering practice ability), content (experiment, practice, engineering training), time (from freshman to senior), and objects (undergraduate, master and doctoral), provide a broader practice platform for students of different grades, majors and interests, promote the reform of teaching reform and management mechanism, continuously deepen the connotation construction, and form a new practice teaching mode of high-quality resources integration and sharing, teaching, scientific research and social services blending and promoting, and collaborative and open practice teaching.

From 2002 to 2004, the center undertook the teaching reform project of higher education in Jiangsu Province in the new century (the most important task is education reform): The Research and Practice of Building an Open Engineering Training Platform for Higher Engineering Education, and the key research topics in the Tenth Five Year Plan of National Higher Education Science: Research and Practice of Engineering Training System and Operation Mode of Higher Engineering Education was highly appraised by the expert group and passed the provincial appraisal in December 2004. The construction concept, curriculum system and operation mode of the Industry Center have been highly praised by the expert group of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance, and also highly praised by the provincial and municipal leaders.

In October 2004, the book The Cornerstone of Creating the Future: Industry Center of Jiangsu University, which comprehensively introduced the concept, system, platform construction, operation mode and demonstration results of the center, was published by Southeast University Press, which had a certain impact on the whole country.

In November 2004, Industry Center construction, reform and operation achievements——Research and Practice of Open Engineering Training System for Higher Engineering Education won the Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Achievement Special Award;

In the process of undergraduate teaching evaluation organized by the Ministry of education in 2004, Industry Center has become the highlight of cultivating students' engineering awareness, engineering ability and innovation ability, and has been highly praised by experts;

In September 2005, Research and Practice of Open Engineering Training System in Higher Engineering Education won the second prize of national teaching achievement;

In 2006, entrusted by Jiangsu Provincial Education Department and provincial metalworking Research Association, the third advanced manufacturing technology practice teaching and innovation production competition of Jiangsu Province was successfully held.

In 2007, the center was awarded the construction site of national experimental teaching demonstration center, and The Research and Practice of Innovative Personnel Training of Mechanical Specialty Based on the Concept of Large Engineering Education was awarded the first prize of Jiangsu teaching achievement.

(4) 2008 ~ Relying on the construction of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, strengthening the connotation construction of engineering training

In order to further promote the deep development of practical teaching, relying on the construction of national experimental demonstration center, the Industrial Center further strengthens the teaching concept of engineering training course, and forms an experimental teaching team with advanced educational concept and courage to practice and innovate; establishes a relatively perfect innovative teaching system and innovative teaching guarantee system, establishes a central teaching quality inspection mechanism and a teaching quality assurance mechanism to ensure the continuous improvement of teaching level. In 2009, the engineering training course was listed as the core course of the University, and was given the key funding. In 2008, supporting the College of mechanical engineering, "Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation Specialty" was approved as a national specialty construction point.

In 2008, the course of Mechanical Principle and Design jointly applied with the College of mechanical engineering was approved as a top-quality course in Jiangsu Province;

In 2009, the teaching team of the series of mechanical manufacturing courses was rated as the national teaching team; the research and practice of "Four-in-one" comprehensive teaching reform to cultivate innovative talents of mechanical specialty was awarded the second prize of Jiangsu teaching achievement; the "Yangtze River Delta" international manufacturing center machinery professional innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Training Mode Experimental Zone was approved by the Ministry of education; the Food Processing Machinery and Equipment course jointly applied with the food college was approved as a national excellent course; Xiao Kexia and Chen Hansong, teachers of the Industry Center, won the first prize in the fourth advanced manufacturing technology practice teaching and innovation production competition (teachers group) of Jiangsu engineering colleges;

In 2010, engineering training courses were approved as excellent courses in Jiangsu Province, and engineering knowledge courses were awarded Excellent Courses in the University;

In 2011, the research and practice of "Modern Mechanical Engineer" training won the second prize of Jiangsu teaching achievement.

Industry Center has made remarkable achievements in teaching concept, teaching reform, team building, teaching material construction, personnel training and other aspects, and the external demonstration radiation has gradually emerged.

In the past five years, 71 teaching materials for experiments, internships and engineering training and vocational skills training have been published, including 52 training and experimental guidance books and 13 self-made experimental instruments. 379 experiments, internships and engineering training programs were offered to 11010 students in 49 majors, and 970 thousand person hours of experiments, internships and engineering training were completed annually. Using the central platform, the students won one special prize, two first prizes and three second prizes in the national challenge cup and comprehensive engineering training ability of college students. It has won 6 first prizes, 12 second prizes, 10 third prizes and 6 excellent organization awards in Jiangsu provincial advanced manufacturing technology practice teaching and innovation production competition and mechanical innovation design competition. The Industry Center has sponsored 30-40 scientific and technological projects for college students every year, and has undertaken the school's mechanical innovation design and production competition, the National College Students' engineering training comprehensive ability competition, etc. Founded the mechanical creative design and smart car innovation community organization, and opened a number of extracurricular innovation courses such as the creative design of mechanical and electrical products, the design and production of small mechatronics devices, the digital design and production of products, and the design of smart cars for the whole school. Industry Center has become the preferred base for college students' Extracurricular innovation activities.

It has established a training resource sharing mechanism with Jiangsu University of science and technology, Suqian College, Zhenjiang boating college, Jiangsu agriculture and Forestry Vocational and technical college. It has successively accepted the experimental or practical teaching tasks of students from more than six colleges and universities, including Jiangsu University of science and technology, Zhenjiang boating college, etc., and has received more than 700 experimental and intern students from other colleges and universities every year.

The Industry Center has successively held training courses for key teachers of Higher Vocational Colleges and secondary vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province, such as mold design and manufacturing, new technology of mechanical processing, and person in charge of training base. 866 teachers were trained, and 201 senior technicians and technicians were trained for Jiangsu Provincial Department of personnel and social security; more than 739 people have been trained in UG and CATIA software, more than 750 employees have been trained in Sumida group and other enterprises, and 2784 people have been held in CNC technology training and vocational skill appraisal. At present, the Industry Center has become the backbone teachers of the government, higher vocational colleges and secondary vocational schools, the person in charge of the training base, and the training base for high skilled talents of industrial enterprises and society.

They received leaders, experts and scholars from nearly 100 universities including Tsinghua University, Dalian University of Technology, Beijing University of science and technology, Shandong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China University of science and technology, Hefei University of technology, Yangzhou University, Vito University of Germany, Hertfordshire University in the UK, Donghua University in Taiwan, Yamaguchi University in Japan, University of Mississippi in the United States and other leaders, experts and scholars, as well as their peers, totaling nearly 2360 visits and exchanges. It has played a certain exemplary role in the cultivation of engineering talents in similar colleges and universities in Jiangsu and even in East China.
