The 9th National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovation Design Competition (2020) and the 11th National Huiyu engineering technology innovation competition are sponsored by the Organizing Committee of national undergraduate mechanical innovation design competition and the Teaching Guidance Committee of mechanical foundation courses of the Ministry of education. The event was jointly undertaken by Wenzhou University and Beijing zhongjiaoyi Artificial Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd. The theme of the competition is "smart home, happy family". The competition started in June 2019. Due to the influence of epidemic situation at home and abroad, the competition was finally held in Wenzhou University recently, and was assessed online and on-site. 542 teams from 166 universities across the country participated in the competition. We sent three teams to the competition. Among them, "table design for fully automatic tableware storage and cleaning" won the first prize, "household intelligent garbage sorting bin" won the second prize, and "the intelligent clothing folding inductive device" won the third prize. Although the competition was affected by the epidemic situation, our students and instructors have always been unremitting, actively communicated online, constantly improved the works, promoted the competition project orderly, and finally achieved excellent results.

The National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovation Design competition has a great influence in the national colleges and universities, and has become an important platform for colleges and universities to show their innovative teaching achievements. The competition aims to cultivate college students' innovative design consciousness, comprehensive design ability and team spirit, to strengthen the training of students' hands-on ability and engineering practice training, to improve students' practical work ability such as mechanical design and process production through innovative thinking. Through competition we can attract and encourage students to actively participate in extracurricular scientific and technological activities, and create conditions for outstanding talents to stand out.
