From August 19 to 25, the 10th China Japan South Korea Summer Program for Innovative Engineering Desigen (SPIED) hosted by the Asian Innovation Research and Education Alliance (iRE Asia) was held. More than 70 teachers and students from 7 Chinese, Japanese and Korean universities, including Jiangsu University, Yamaguchi University of Japan and Qunshan University of Korea, participated in the project through the network platform. Sixteen teachers and students of our school participated in the project, and Yan Xiaohong, the principal, delivered a speech by video at the opening ceremony.

Yan Xiaohong congratulated SPIED on the 10th anniversary of its success, saying that the project has developed into a unique engineering teaching innovation practice brand project, which has played a positive role in strengthening the exchange and cooperation between teachers and students of universities in China, Japan and South Korea, sharing high-quality teaching resources, establishing an international teaching innovation practice platform, promoting academic exchanges between schools, and jointly improving the innovation ability of engineering students.

During the project, 60 students were divided into 10 cooperation teams to brainstorm in the innovative situation of intelligent equipment for the needs of the epidemic era. Under the guidance of the Chinese, Japanese and Korean teacher teams, they jointly completed innovative design and finished product production, and finally defended and evaluated their works.

Public Transportation Handle using UV Light, a team work of Lu Zhenyu from the School of Computer Science and Communication Engineering of our school, won the grand prize. Non – Contact Vending Machine, a team work of Yu Huahao from the School of Agricultural Engineering, and Clean Oil Smoke Air, a team work of He Zhuofang from the School of Food and Biological Engineering, won the gold prize.

The China Japan South Korea Summer Program for Innovative Engineering Desigen was jointly initiated by Jiangsu University, Yamaguchi University of Japan and Gunsan University of South Korea in 2013. It is held by the universities of China, Japan and South Korea in August every year, and lasts for 1-2 weeks. The project is aimed at college students majoring in machinery, electronics, information, control, computer, etc. It uses English as the communication language to carry out maker practice on hot interdisciplinary topics. Students from different countries and different majors achieve multidisciplinary knowledge integration through grouping physical creation, improve students' interdisciplinary innovation ability, team awareness and international communication ability, and gradually guide students to embark on the road of innovation and entrepreneurship. Our school has hosted this project in 2014, 2017 and 2021.
